Jean-Marc Triscone is a professor of physics in the Department of Quantum Matter Physics at the University of Geneva where he heads a research group investigating artificial oxide materials. His research focuses on developing materials and devices with novel electronic properties. From 2001 to 2007, he was the deputy director of the National Center of Competence in Research on Materials with Novel Electronic Properties MaNEP and from 2007 to 2014, he was the dean of the Faculty of science.

He studied physics at the University of Geneva where he obtained his doctorate in 1987 with a thesis on the growth and properties of superconductors. After postdocs at the University of Geneva and at the Department of Applied Physics at Stanford University (USA), he was appointed in 1996 a full professor of physics at the University of Geneva.

Since 2006, he has been a Fellow of the American Physical Society. In 2013, he obtained an ERC Sinergy grant for a project to further develop quantum materials control. Together with Harold Hwang and Jochen Mannhart, he was recently awarded the 2014 European Physical Society Condensed Matter Division Europhysics Prize for the Discovery and Investigation of Electron Liquids at Oxide Interfaces.

Jean-Marc Triscone has been a member of the Swiss Science Council since 2016.
